Know Your Limits
If you feel overwhelmed, it’s harder to stay positive. Learn to say no. You have appointments coming up, and your parents ask you if you can stop by to help with housework. If it’s too much, say so. Don’t feel obligated to help them.
Get Enough Sleep
If you’re tired, you’ll find it harder to stay positive. Get as much sleep as you can. This can be challenging when you’re sick, but it’s essential. Even if you’re taking naps during the day, sleep is essential.
Set yourself up for a great night’s sleep. Instead of staying up late, soak in a warm bubble bath, go to bed, and read for an hour. Don’t be surprised if you get sleepy before the hour of reading is up. Before you drift off, turn on a fan or white noise machine to drown out noises that may keep you awake.
Take It One Day at a Time
You can’t do everything in one day. Take your time and do things as you have time and energy. Depending on your situation, you may have priorities. If your health is impacted, doctor’s appointments are essential. Get those done first by arranging to have someone else help your parents.
